15 days, 3 nations and 4 communities to visit! After nearly a year's work to ensure financing, coordination and logistics, this unique initiative has finally seen the light of day - a great first! For both our organization and the communities we visited.

As part of their end-of-year internship, students in animal health techniques at the Cégep de Sherbrooke took part in a unique field intervention with our organization, as part of 4 sterilization clinics offered in the communities of Pessamit, Mistissini, Oujé-Bougoumou and Wemotaci.

This innovative project was born of a collaboration between Dr. Martine Nadeau, veterinarian and professor at the Cégep de Sherbrooke, and Dr. Daphnée Veilleux-Lemieux, Director of Chiots Nordiques. A long-time volunteer with our organization, Dr. Nadeau is well aware of the needs and realities of our communities.

We were blown away by the people's positive welcome, the human and animal encounters and the opportunity to connect with the history of different Nations. Visiting the Elders' House in Pessamit, the Cree Aanischaaukamikw Cultural Institute in Oujé-Bougoumou, the beach in Mistissini and eating traditional Atikamekw dishes were all great ways of discovering even more about these territories.

In addition to the incredible collaboration of the communities we visited, we were able to count on the support of invaluable partners who enabled us to offer a complete range of services in line with the One Health approach.

PURE for cleaning and disinfecting products Aventix and Elimedical for quality medical products;

Dechra, which enabled us to set up a high-quality anesthetic protocol;

Merck Santé Animale for vaccines and products to treat specific ailments;

CEVA for Feliway and Adatil products, which enable animals to have a better stay in temporary kennels;

Elanco, Modern Veterinary Therapeutics and Zoetis for antiparasitics adapted to the conditions observed;

Eeyou Communications, which has been with us in Mistissini and will continue to work with us in 2025!

Thank you, thank you, tshinashkumitin, miigwetch, mikwetc to all those who made this possible! A total of 446 animals received care thanks to you!
