My dream of becoming a volunteer with Chiots Nordiques

ree

For more than five years, I had dreamed of becoming a volunteer in the field with Chiots Nordiques. On several occasions, I submitted my name to participate in a mission in a First Nations community, but without success in the early years. Then, due to a lack of time, I put this dream aside... until this spring.

That's when I began my involvement in a different way, by becoming a foster family for the organization. Taking in dogs in transition was a deeply human experience for me. During a spay and neuter clinic in Quebec City, I had the opportunity to meet some of the Chiots Nordiques team. I was immediately struck by their energy, their professionalism, and above all, the incredible spirit of mutual support that prevailed.

A few weeks later, I received a registration form for the Nutashkuan clinic. Without hesitation, I sent in my application, hoping to finally be able to experience this fieldwork. To my surprise, I was selected to join the team and take part in this unique mission.

While there, I had the chance to discover a magnificent landscape, forge ties with the community, meet adorable dogs, and contribute, one animal at a time, to a cause that is close to my heart. Volunteering at the kennel took me on a real roller coaster ride of emotions: fatigue, challenges, but also pride and immense gratitude.

I returned from Nutashkuan with unforgettable memories, my heart filled with hope... and already eager to go back and help on another mission.

The cause of Chiots Nordiques is essential. It changes the lives of animals, but also those of the volunteers who get involved. I sincerely hope that everyone can experience this extraordinary human and animal experience at least once.
