UKAACHIKUNAAN - adopted

Age : 8 months

Weight : 4,5 kg

Gender : Female

Type : Mixed breed

Place of custody : Chicoutimi

Ukaachikunaan is a mixed breed female approximately 8 months old and weighing 4.5 kg. She comes from the Cree Nation of Mistissini and lives with her foster family in Chicoutimi. She has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped.

 General description

"Hello, my name is Ukaachikunan, but everyone calls me Uka. My name means ‘little feathers’ in the Cree language. It suits me perfectly, of course! However, don't be fooled... my featherweight is not synonymous with fragility. I am very energetic and need to exercise every day. I'm also very affectionate. My foster family loves my little teeth, which always seem to be showing, as if I'm smiling all the time!

 Cohabitation

I currently live with a medium-sized dog and everything is going well. I really enjoy playing with him and he is very patient with me. We sometimes play tug-of-war together. If my future family has a dog (or cat), they will definitely have to teach me to take breaks, because I always want to play! I have also met dogs during my walks and I really want to go up to them. I bark a little and seem to really want to be friends with them. As for humans, children and adults, I am sociable. I tend to stand up on my hind legs and jump on their legs or nibble their fingers to get attention. It's not meant to be malicious, of course! We'll have to keep working on these behaviors, especially if I have to live with little humans.

 Inside

When my humans leave for work, I stay in my crate. I whine a little at first, but I quickly calm down. I also sleep in my crate at night and am very calm and comfortable there. I'm not yet perfectly house-trained, so we'll need to keep working on that together. I'm learning the “sit” command, which I'm getting better and better at.

🦴I am very greedy. I understand when a dog signals that he doesn't want to share what he has. Even though I am very small, I have a great need to chew. I really enjoy gnawing on the small bones that my foster family gives me.

Outdoors

I walk well on a leash and don't pull much. Every day, my foster humans take me for a 30- to 60-minute walk. Sometimes we go to the park, where I can play freely with my dog friend. I still need to work on coming when called.

 Transportation and handling

In the car, I am secured in the back seat because I tend to jump onto the driver's lap if I am not restrained. I am excited and eager to embark on my next adventure! I had the opportunity to meet @Toilettage MoussO’Poils, who gave me a makeover so that I would be ready for my forever family. The groomer described me as a very lovable dog with no mischief in me. She also said that I was a bit “restless,” but that I had been very nice. She is convinced that with regular grooming, this will improve.

In short, I am a lively and energetic little dog who needs an attentive family that is ready to continue my training. I am very intelligent, but sometimes I have too much energy to concentrate! I could live with another dog, but I would definitely need some training to learn how to relax. Despite my small size, I am looking for an active family who will want to help me burn off my energy every day, just like my foster family does now.
