🐶General description
"Well, where to start? In November 2021, I was involved in a collision with a vehicle in the community. I was transferred to Chiots Nordiques to receive all the necessary care. I needed several procedures, including osteosynthesis of the tibia fracture with a plate, screws, and rod, as well as excisional arthroplasty of the left hip. I was adopted around March 2022 by an exceptional and extremely loving family. Due to circumstances beyond her control, my loving mom has to find me a new family with whom I can continue my journey.
She describes me as a wonderful dog who is gentle with humans. I am very cuddly and always looking for attention. I am generally calm, but I will NEVER turn down a walk—it's my favorite thing! I love it so much that I know the word “walk” and get very excited when I see my mom take out my harness and leash!
🏡Inside
The first year after I was adopted, I would quietly go into my crate when my mom was away. For the past two years, however, I have been free at all times and I don't destroy anything. I have a big cushion that I love, and I also like to lie down on the rugs in the entryway. In my current home, I have learned not to go into the kitchen or bedrooms. I am also house-trained: I can hold it all day without any problems. I have learned several commands, such as “sit, lie down, stay, don't touch, heel,” as well as tricks like spinning around, doing a somersault, and going between people's legs. I'm smart, aren't I?
🦴I'm quite a glutton, so I eat from a slow-feed bowl. You'll have to make sure I stay at a healthy weight, by the way. I've learned to sit calmly and wait for the “go” signal before eating! I like practicing commands and tricks every day, especially because it earns me some treats! I like chewing on various items. I don't like dogs coming near me when I'm eating or chewing on something.
🌳Outdoors
My mom says that when I was younger, I ran away a few times. For my own safety, I need to live in a fenced-in environment. What's more, I'm a keen hunter and I tend to take off if I see small animals nearby. In the summer, I love to dig to make myself a cozy, cool nest! I walk nicely on a leash and don't pull. I've been well trained, don't you think? 😊 When I'm on a leash, I understand that I have to walk nicely, while a long leash means I can venture further! I like to go for walks in large areas where I can sniff around as I please. I don't like meeting other dogs on walks, but it's manageable, especially with treats and distractions. My mom can share all her best tips! Finally, you'll understand that harness sports aren't for me because of my accident.
🐕🐈👶Living with others
I do not live with other animals or children. Living with children would be possible as long as they are gentle with me. I have sensitive hips and do not like them being touched. I would therefore prefer older children who understand and respect that I don't want this area to be touched. With dogs, I admit that I am reactive. I am not aggressive, but I will growl to signal that I don't want them to come near me. It is possible to distract me with treats. There are dogs that I have become comfortable with over time, but I mostly just tolerate them. So you can understand that I would be so happy to be the only dog in the household! As for cats, I am a hunter, so cohabitation is NOT possible.
🚗Transportation and handling
I enjoy car rides. I sit quietly in the back seat and am secured with my harness. I am easy to handle, but please remember that I have sensitive hips. When it is time to brush this area, I need gentle care so as not to hurt myself. I don't really like being groomed, but I let my mom do it. She dries me with a towel and air, because I really don't like the dryer. Cutting my nails requires several treats, and you have to be quick because I pull my paws away at lightning speed. Vet appointments stress me out, so I need to be reassured.
🩵It's obvious that I'm an excellent dog who has been privileged to live with my current family for all these years. Now I'm looking for a new family that will take care of me as well as I have been in recent years. I would like to be the king of the household so I can enjoy the undivided attention of my future humans. I'm still active, so I want a family that will take me on adventures!
