🐶General description
Titipinew - meaning: rolling - Black and white male, 20 kg
“Titipinew is also the name you chose for me and it's perfect, because that's exactly what I do with my canine friend when I play with him.”
"Hello humans! You probably recognize us from our names. Remember, we were taken in by the organization during a rescue earlier this year. We're two rather timid adults who are slowly learning to live in your world. Everything is new to us and it's not always easy. We're going at our own pace. Our adoptive families will have to understand that their world still scares us and that we still have a lot to discover. We're slowly beginning to appreciate cuddles, caresses and scratches. We have our own way of showing you that we appreciate your presence. It's part of our charm. Me, Miratam, I'm a placoteuse, as much with dogs as with humans. You'll see, I make funny noises with my throat. At first, my human thought I was angry, but no, I was just talking to her!
📍The Nordic Puppy team suggests a voluntary contribution to support the costs associated with our adoption.
🐕🐈👶Cohabitation
We currently cohabit with several dogs and it's a great pleasure for us. We're not afraid of them; on the contrary, they reassure us and we love playing with them. Of course, we're a little embarrassed when we first meet them, but once we've been introduced, everything goes like clockwork. It's MANDATORY for us to HAVE A CANINE FRIEND in our adoptive families. I, Titipinew, am the one who plays the most and I'm not afraid to squabble with them. Friendly of course! I, Miratam, play a little less, but I also like to tease them. As for the humans, we watch them from a distance. However, if they hand us treats, we'll quietly approach them to fetch them. But as mentioned above, we don't particularly like contact. So we'll stay with you, but a little further back. As far as children are concerned, we won't be placed with anyone under the age of 12. We don't feel comfortable when they move quickly. We could live with teenagers or young adults who understand that our bubble is very important to us. We haven't met any cats, but given our former life outside, our foster family does NOT think cohabitation is possible.
🏡Inside
In the house, when our humans are present, we're free with our canine friends. At night, we sleep in their room on our cushions, which we enjoy immensely. When the humans are away, I, Titipinew, am free in a room with my companions. It's a good thing I do this like a champ, because I don't like the cage at all. I, Miratam, am placed in my carrier, which I consider my home because I feel safe there. My family is slowly starting to try and let me free with the others, for short periods. I do it like a pro.
We're both clean in the house. Our humans take us out regularly, but it has to be said that we're still able to hold back for a long time.
As everything is new to us, we're working on trusting our humans first and foremost. However, I, Miratam, have realized that if I sit down, I'll get a treat! This makes me very happy, so we're confident that, hand in paw, we'll succeed in learning some of the commandments.
🦴Food
We're big gluttons. We love to eat, even what's not in our bowl, and we really appreciate having chew items. Fish skin is our favorite at the moment, but we're looking forward to discovering new ones. We do NOT do resource protection. However, I, Titipinew, eat faster and sometimes try to steal the contents of Miratam's bowl. Our family keeps an eye on us because Miratam tends to leave his bowl to me. That's very nice of her, but she has to eat her portion. Our humans also have a big toy bin full of toys, doggies and chewables. Miratam prefers to chew, while Titipinew loves to play with the plushies and use them to tease our canine friends.
🌳Outdoors
We currently have access to a very large, secure fenced yard and love to go for walks, play with other dogs or just hang out. So we're looking for families who can provide us with a space like this. We also keep a close eye on the squirrel population, and sometimes help with excavation work on the property! When it's time to return to the house, we follow the pack, even if sometimes we'd rather stay outside.
We're proud to say that we're now professional walkers. Well... first you have to put on the harness, and we don't like that so much. But once we're off, we're over the moon. At the moment, we're walking on a leash with our other canine friends and everything's fine. I, Titipinew, am a bit shy of cars and buses, but I'm getting better every day. Our community background means we love nature and peace and quiet. Our host humans don't think that a very urban environment would be a good place for us.
🚗Transport and handling
We haven't been in the car very often. We're still not very comfortable in them, but we agree to go with a little insistence. We prefer to be placed in a transporter, we feel safer there. Remember, this is all new to us. As far as manipulation is concerned, the expression “slowly but surely” reflects the situation well. I, Titipinew, am slowly beginning to accept being brushed. It's possible to handle our ears, but it's more difficult with our claws. We don't like our paws to be touched. However, with some treats and patience, our human managed to cut them off. We haven't had a bath yet.
💙In conclusion, we are two little beings who will know how to charm you. And yes, we're different and more fearful than most dogs, but we still appreciate your presence and the comforts of home life. We're never far from you, watching you. We appreciate your presence and would like to share our life with a family who will respect our rhythm and our need for space. We could live both together, just as we could live separately. But what's certain is that we need at least one other dog to play with and a fenced-in yard, preferably in a quiet spot in nature. In exchange, we'll give you lots of love, in our own way."
