🐶 General Description
Hello dear humans! My name is Makumiku, and my name means “the one who was caught in a trap.” I was given this name because, unfortunately, I was found with one of my paws caught in a trap. My foster humans lovingly nicknamed me Kumi. I am an extremely GENTLE dog, with a temperament that is much more CALM than energetic. Inside the house, I love gnawing on bones and then lying down peacefully in different spots to relax. Sometimes I have little “zoomies,” but they never last very long—just long enough to make everyone smile! My foster family describes me as a perfect dog… maybe even a little too lovable 😉. I did spend a good part of my life wandering, so I still have a few things to learn. With gentleness and patience, I learn every day and slowly reveal my beautiful personality.
🐕🐈👶 Living with Others
I currently live in a foster family with two other dogs, and I get along very well with them. I enjoy playing for short periods with the bigger one, while respecting the personal space of the other, who prefers quieter moments. I adapt well to each of them. I have also met children, and everything went very well. I am very gentle and respectful. Often, I lie down close to them and calmly enjoy cuddle time—a true moment of happiness! I have not met any cats since arriving here, but my foster humans believe it could be possible, as I am very gentle. However, calm, gradual introductions under supervision would of course be necessary if there are small animals in my future family.
🏡 Indoors
When I am alone at home, I stay loose with the other dogs in my foster family. I have never needed to be crated, and my calm temperament means it isn’t necessary for me. However, it is important that I always have a toy or an appropriate chew when I’m left alone for a long time. Sometimes I carry shoes or slippers around in my mouth, but don’t worry—I have never chewed or eaten them! I am fully house-trained. Given my past, I still know only a few commands. My foster family has taught me some key words like “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “home,” and I’m starting to master them well. I would be happy to continue learning with patience and kindness; I learn quickly and always do my best.
🦴 Food & Chews
I love mealtime and I’m really not picky when it comes to food. I’m not a big glutton—some foods don’t interest me—but I always finish my bowl with pleasure. I also share my “ordinary” chew items without any issue with humans or canine friends. However, if I’m given something very precious in my eyes, it’s best to be more cautious, as I prefer to enjoy it quietly without being disturbed by other dogs.
🌳 Outdoors
I love spending time outside, but I never stay there very long if my human or another dog isn’t with me. I can absolutely stay outside if needed, without any problem, but generally I prefer to follow my human around—that’s where I feel best. However, my recall is not yet reliable. For my safety, I need to be in a fenced yard or on a leash when I’m outside. With work and practice, I could certainly improve, but for now, caution is important. I am an excellent walking companion and I love going for strolls. I don’t pull at all. I naturally follow my human’s pace, calmly and happily. Sometimes I can be a little startled by certain noises, like a car passing too close. In those moments, simply slowing down or taking a short pause is enough, and I calm down quickly. Even though I have strong shoulders, I don’t really have potential for pulling sports. I’m more of a walking dog who enjoys the present moment and gently accompanying my human.
🚗 Transport & Handling
My behavior in the car is exemplary. I lie down calmly and simply wait for the ride to end. My foster family hasn’t yet tried nail trimming, but they believe I would allow it without any problem, since I tolerate having my paws, ears, and mouth handled very well. Even though I’m an almost perfect dog… I must admit that I really don’t like baths! I cooperate, but it’s clearly not my favorite moment. I do have a few scars on my paw from when I was injured in a trap, but everything is now completely healed. I also had a small injury on my lip that is almost entirely gone. In addition, a broken canine tooth was removed to relieve pain and prevent complications. Everything went very well—I am now fully ready for adoption!
In summary, I’m looking for a present family, ready to offer me all the attention and cuddles I need. A calm, available family that respects my more laid-back temperament would be ideal for me. I need some daily exercise, but I much prefer peaceful activities over high-energy sports. A family that already has another dog would be perfect, as I love playing with a canine friend. I am a loyal, gentle, and easygoing companion, and with the right family, I know I can truly thrive.
