🐶General description
" Hello! My name is Blacky. My foster family says I'm MAGNIFICENT, ATTACHING, INTELLIGENT, SENSITIVE and LOVE humans! I'm always in a good mood and ready to go for a walk or play ball. I have a moderate energy level and adapt easily to different everyday situations. I love being glued to my humans and following them around all the rooms.
🐕🐈👶Cohabitation
In my foster home, I cohabit with a fairly independent 8-year-old bitch. We get on well and understand each other's dog language. I don't really play with her, but we're never far apart. So I could live alone or with other dogs. As far as cats are concerned, cohabitation will NOT be possible. I want to chase them and they make me bark.
When I've met elementary-aged children, I've been very happy to sit so they can pet me, and I haven't made any sudden gestures that might have frightened them. However, as I'm lively and playful, you'll have to be careful that I don't jostle the little ones. Finally, I LOVE humans, big or small, I love them all! On walks, I like to go up to people to say hello. If someone comes to the house, I bark to warn my humans, but I stop when they tell me I've done my job as their guardian. I have a tendency to jump on people to greet them, so this will have to be worked on with patience and rewards.
🏡Inside
I'm free in the house, day and night, and I don't destroy or steal anything. Sometimes I have to stay in my pen and I cry a little, but I end up lying down and waiting. I have a bad habit of putting my paws on counters, so if you leave food lying around, I'll deal with it very quickly. I've learned to fend for myself in the past and to rummage through the garbage cans. You can't blame me if I eat food you've left out, but I'm willing to work on that little flaw! During the day, my girlfriend and I stay close to our mom, who works from home. I'm quiet and sleep under the work table. I wait wisely for the day's work to end and for the walk to come. I'm used to the different noises in the house, such as the vacuum cleaner. I'm not afraid of fireworks, but sometimes the engine of a large motorcycle or truck in the street can set me off. I go to the window, bark a little with my big voice, then calm down quickly when I'm reassured. I haven't stayed home alone very often. But when this happened, I was out with my friend and went to bed calmly, waiting for the humans to return. A real champion!
Cleanliness is a given for me. My signals are pretty clear and I can hold it in for a long time. I prefer to go for a walk in the park to relieve myself rather than in the yard. For peeing, it's okay, but for the rest, I really prefer to go elsewhere... even if it's raining.
I already know the “sit” command. I'm starting to learn the other commands, but I have trouble concentrating if there are stimuli around me. I'll be easy to train, since I'm greedy and want to please you. With gentleness and patience, it will go very quickly!
🦴Food
I'm a real glutton! I have to eat from a slow bowl or from interactive games. What can I say, I've got to watch my figure! Right now, my girlfriend and I don't eat together because our rhythms are too different. Besides, I can do a bit of resource protection with her to show that I care about my food.
My chewing needs are average and I really enjoy chewing on toys, “peeling” tennis balls, disemboweling stuffed animals and concentrating on a collagen, a horn, a pig's ear...
Yummy! When I chew near my friend, I don't growl, and even if I finish before she does, I don't try to steal from her. Sometimes I do resource protection if she wants to take a toy I really like. I want to let her know it's mine. I've improved a lot since I arrived, but if there's another dog in the house, you'll have to keep working on this with me!
🌳Outdoors
I prefer fenced yards because I'm very curious. I want to see everything that's going on and where the noises are coming from. I'm a real weasel! I love following scent trails, so I could easily get lost. My recall isn't up to scratch yet because I've still got too many things to discover. But as I'm very greedy and love being close to my humans, I think it could improve considerably. At the moment, my predatory instinct is high towards cats and moderate towards squirrels. I'm starting to get used to them and understand that if I go back to my human, I'll get a treat. I think that with time, my predatory instinct will be redirected thanks to the encouragement and treats. Good news, I don't dig holes! I'm dexterous, and my foster family thinks I could do things like agility, dog coursing, barn hunting and other activities that involve the sense of smell. I haven't had a chance to swim yet, but I'd probably like to!
I can't walk on foot yet, but I really don't pull much. Unless a cat crosses my path. Most of the time, my nose is glued to the ground to sniff out any information left by other dogs. I like to say hello to all the people and dogs I meet. As for other 4-legged friends, I can emit little growls if there are too many of them and too many leashes and treats to manage.
🚗Transport and handling
I love going in the car - I can even be your co-pilot! During a several-hour car transport, I proudly sat with my paws on the armrest to watch the road! I like to be groomed and visit the vet because I'm being looked after! So you can imagine there's no problem handling me, playing in my ears, brushing me, tickling my paws and scratching the corners of my eyes! I have a fairly long coat that will require maintenance, so it's good news that I cooperate well.
In conclusion, I am a sociable dog who can accompany you in all your activities. I love being close to my humans and being petted. What's more, routine reassures me. My adoptive family may live in an urban or rural setting, may or may not own another dog, and may or may not have children. I'm not very demanding. I'm a very loving dog with enormous potential. I can't wait to meet my family for life!"
